apple pencil does not charge

I cannot charge my apple pencil anymore.

Currently my apple pencil is at 25%. When I connect it to the iPad Pro (iOS 9.2) the charge icon appears but the battery level stays at 25%.

This is different when I first charged it. It went up to 100% in minutes.
