Q: airplay works fine with one user and not with another

I have wireless network and use Airplay to listen to music.  One of the computers on the network has the strange situation where one user has Airplay functioning normally whereas with the other user it does not work. You can choose the Airplay speakers from within iTunes but there is no sound.  This has been the case for some time.  It was already like this under Yosemite and upgrading to El Capitan has not done anything to improve the situation.  Would anyone have any idea of how to rectify this anomaly?

    From your question, it seems like you have multiple computers that share a network, but one of these computers has two different user accounts where AirPlay works differently depending on which account is logged in. 

     

    If this is the case and AirPlay is not working as expected on one of the user accounts, there are several suggestions that I would recommend. These recommendations come from the following article that you can use as a reference. 

     

    Use AirPlay to wirelessly stream content from iTunes on your computer - Apple Support

     

    1. Check that you have the latest version of iTunes and Apple TV software.
    2. Connect your computer and your other device to the same Wi-Fi network. If you're using Ethernet, connect both devices to the same router or hub. If you're using both Wi-Fi and Ethernet, connect your AirPlay device to the same router that your computer uses for Wi-Fi.
    3. Restart your computer, AirPlay device, and network router.
    4. Since some Airplay devices include an on/off option for AirPlay, look for the option in Settings and make sure the feature is on. Check the device's user guide for more information.
