final cut stop recognizing my external hard drive when updating to yosemite

I have a mac book pro , and I work a lot in final cut, 6 months ago I bought an external hard drive (WD 4TB) just to keep every project, event and original media files organized in there, but along came yosemite... I had to make the update to yosemite for many reasons, the problem was i had to update final cut as well because it wouldn't launch anymore , so i updated it (10.2.1) , but now it won't recognize my hard drive, and obviously non of the projects and events are visible.... any help??

MacBook Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.1)

What's the computer? How the drive connected? How's it formatted? Is it being used for Time Machine? What version were you using to create the projects and events?

MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2008), 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, start up disk Mountain Lion Base... it is conected via usb port, i formatted when i first used so final cut would recognize it, but since i did the update i dont know anymore, how can i check that? not using it for time machine, a dont know what version was the last one, it is still posible to know?

but you've updated to Yosemite now?

I don't know how to check the formatting if the drive doesn't mount.

Open Disk Utility and see if it recognizes the drive.

Was the FCP print to 10.1, 10.0.something?

Do you mean the drive won't mount…or that you don't see it in the FCP UI?

Because in versions later than 10.0.9, the drives no longer appear in the user interface (Although they do, if mounted, appear in the import window.)

yes i have yosemite, i can read and make all changes that i want on the hard drive in finder, and the older version of FCP was 10.1.something i believe,

ok, it does apear in the import window, but what about all the projects and events that i was working on? thats what i really want to recover, is it posible to take on from where it was before the update?

The document that Tom linked you to in his last reply has a section, beginning on p.2 , that explains how to proceed when you update from 10.0.9 and earlier.
