upgrading to osx el captian

favorite

I have a Macbook Pro running osx Mavericks and Windows 8. I have downloaded the installer file for osx El Capitan and want to upgrade to it. However, seeing a few threads like:

How can I make my bootcamp partition bootable again after upgrading to El Capitan?

I'm skeptical whether Windows will work after the upgrade or will I need to re-install it. Can any expert who has tried this help me out with the proper method I might need to follow?

Can you post the output of the following Terminal commands for the record?

diskutil list

diskutil cs list

sudo gpt -vv -r show /dev/disk0

sudo fdisk /dev/disk0

The "sudo" commands will prompt for your password, and it will not be echoed back. You may also see a warning about improper use of "sudo" and potential data loss due to "abuse" of the command.

Please backup OSX and Windows and create a Windows System Restore point, before you upgrade.

This looks very strange.

Is this before the upgrade or after?

1. You can execute an in-place upgrade from W8.1 to W10 - Use Windows 10 on your Mac with Boot Camp - Apple Support .

2. W8.1 should be fully activated and Windows Update should be run. Skip all Driver updates during Windows Update.

3. Create good backups of OSX and Windows.

4. You can download the ISO for W10 from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/home .

5. After the upgrade and full activation of W10 your Mac is registered with Microsoft, in some instances, a clean installation of W10 may be required. There have been some cases of Windows Update pushing WHQL drivers to Macs which cause problems. It is recommended that you disconnect from the network while upgrading and create a Windows System Restore point before you allow Windows Update to make changes. In most cases, WHQL drivers should eb avoided.
