how i can i use my phone number for imessage on my 6s

i can not get 6S to use my phone number on imessage, i can only use email for imessage. can anyone tell me how to activate my phone number so i can use it for imessge

iPhone 6s, iOS 9.2

Link your iPhone number and Apple ID to use iMessage and FaceTime - Apple Support

If you get an error when trying to activate iMessage or FaceTime - Apple Support
