Q: Please help. I'm trying to load a backup on my new phone and it says it wont recognize device I need to update itunes. I check and I have the latest version already. To double check I reinstalled the latest from their website and still the same
Please help. Recently my iphone 6 stopped working. it wouldn't get service anymore. I backed it up and brought it into the genius bar today. They said it was a defect but not under warranty. I purchased a new phone. Once I got it home I went to reload my backup onto my new phone to restore everything. it stated "The iPhone “christopher's iPhone” cannot be used because it requires a newer version of iTunes. Go to www.itunes.com to download the latest version of iTunes." I went to itunes and hit check for updates it said I have the latest versions. To double check I completely deleted Itunes on my MBP and reinstalled from their website. I get the same error. It won't recognize my phone because of this so I'm unable to use my backup. Please help me out to resolve this. Thanks in advance.
iPhone 6, iOS 9.2

The issue is the version of iTunes you are using. The current version is iTunes 12.3.2.
Your computer said you have the current version of iTunes because you do have the latest version your operating system can run. The problem is you do not have the latest operating system.
For example, if you have a Mac, you need at least OS X 10.8.5 to run iTunes 12.3.2. (Current OS X version is 10.11.2.)
Update your operating system, then update iTunes.
