can i use itunes to download a dvd to my phone

Hi,

I just got a new movie on dvd for Christmas.I would love to have it on my phone but I don't know how.I was wondering if I would have to do this through ITunes considering my phone is an apple product.If I do not do this through iTunes I could use some help to tell or show mw how to do this.
