Q: plugin com.apple.messages.ShareExtension invalidated

Trying to share a link in Safari via Messages. Click on the share button, select Messages in pop up list, nothing happens. I find this (which seemed most directly related) in the log:

Sharing using other methods seems to function properly.  This did not start happening right after upgrading the Mac OS. I've been running this system for many days. Disabling extensions did not yield any change.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It makes no changes to your data.

Please triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

    ls -@Oaen /S*/*/Caches | pbcopy

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.

Launch the built-in Terminal application in any one of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

☞ In the Finder, select Go Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.

Paste into the Terminal window by pressing the key combination command-V. I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.

Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear below what you entered.

The output of the command will be automatically copied to the Clipboard. If the command produced no output, the Clipboard will be empty. Paste into a reply to this message.

The Terminal window doesn't show the output. Please don't copy anything from there.

Please follow the instructions in this support article. Instead of typing the shell command directed in the article, I suggest that you copy and paste it from the web page into the Terminal window. Make sure you select the whole line. One way to do that is by triple-clicking anywhere in the line.

If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before proceeding. You may have to log out or restart to see a change.

Fixed. I did have to reboot. I also ran into questions with lsregister. Errors about not being able to write in /var/db/lsd/, which didn't exist. I created that directory and ran lsregister again with sudo and -v. There were still a lot of error messages not being able to register this and that. But after rebooting, I am now able in various apps to pop up a share menu and send selected text as a message. Thanks.
