Q: Connected to Microsoft-based Smart tv - now regular tv cannot detect Mac

I used my MacAir to present at a meeting, and connected via thunderbolt/USB to a "Smart Tv", which uses Microsoft software.  The smart tv couldn't detect my mac.  When I got home, I found that when I try to use the thunderbolt connection, my regular only occasionally detects my mac.  Did I destroy something on my Mac by hooking up with Micro?

Thanks!

MacBook Air (11-inch Late 2010), Mac OS X (10.7.3)

    Hi Jillian,

Thanks for participating in the Apple Support Communities.

It sounds like your MacBook Air is only intermittently recognizing your external display. Connecting the display to a different type/model of TV shouldn't have damaged the Mac, and there are some troubleshooting steps I'd suggest in this situation.

First, follow the troubleshooting steps in the "Before you begin" and "If the display image is blank or unusable" section of Get help with video issues on external displays connected to your Mac.

These steps will resolve or rule out many of the common issues keeping your Mac and display from working together.

    Best Regards.
