Q: Two ID's, One on phone, need to add other to Family Share

My spouse has two Apple ID's, one work,one personal.  We want to add her personal account to our family sharing, but this can only be done from an Apple device.  Her iPhone 6 uses her work Apple ID, so she can't add her personal ID and join family sharing from it, and she doesn't have another Apple device linked to her personal account (we use a non-Apple PC for her itunes).  All the kids' music is on her account.  They now have their own IDs, but we can't access her content  unless she can join from an Apple device.  Is it possible to switch between ID's on her phone or to temporarily change the ID on her phone (without losing her contacts, etc when she switches back)?  Is there an easier way to do this?  Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities! I'm sorry to hear you are having these issues with Family Sharing. I'm a bit unclear exactly what you are describing, or where you are seeing a requirement to join from a different Apple device. There should be several different methods for inviting and accepting someone to Family Sharing, including via email, as outlined in the following article:

    Typically when you invite an AppleID to Family Sharing it should prompt you to accept the invitation in a couple different ways - one will be from an Apple Device, and the other should be to just enter the password for the account into the inviting phone where it prompts you to.

     

    If it only gives you the option to do it from an Apple Device, then yes you can just use her iPhone 6 to temporarily swap accounts from the iCloud settings, accept the invite, and then log back into her work AppleID.

     

    The account does not need to be constantly active on a device to be part of Family Sharing.

    According to Apple phone support, If you temporarily swap accounts on an Apple device (iPhone or iPad) the previous account will be locked out of the device for at least 60 days.  DON"T DO THIS!

    I suggest you actually read the linked article.  I did, and confirmed it with Apple support by phone.
