How to sync iTunes movies onto an iPod Nano 7th Gen?

Hi I'm Sam.

I have an iPod Nano 7th Gen (software up to date: ver 1.1.1)

I have iTunes (software up to date: ver 12.3.2) on an HP Pavilion 15 Laptop with Windows 10.

I can sync my iTunes library of songs (both CD imported and iTunes downloaded) to my iPod.

BUT

I CANNOT sync iTunes downloaded movies to my iPod.

To try and get movies to sync to my iPod I have:

- In the main Films section of my iTunes (not in the iPod Films or iTunes Store sections), I right-clicked on a movie and clicked on Video Quality: On downloaded movies there are only two options [Default (HD 1080p) and High Definition (720p)] while other purchased but not downloaded movies there are the first two options as well as two more [Standard Definition (SD) and High Definition (1080p)].

When I try to sync a downloaded movie to my iPod with either of the first two Video Quality options [Default (HD 1080p) and High Definition (720p)] I get this message:

"MOVIE" was not copied because high-quality SD video is not compatible with the iPod "MY IPOD".

- In Preferences, Store Preferences. I have unticked the box which says 'Download high-quality SD videos'. Before deleting all the movies from my library and re-downloading them.

When trying to sync any re-downloaded movies, with any Video Quality settings, I get the same message as shown above.

- The only other thing that I attempted (which others have suggested) is to select the movie, then click File - Create New Version - Create iPod or iPhone version. Selecting the movie by clicking on it then the steps described or by clicking on it then pressing Alt and then following the steps.

However when I have tried to do this I cannot click 'Create iPod or iPhone version' because it is greyed out and cannot be clicked.

If anyone has any other ideas/improvements on ideas mentioned on how to get iTunes movies onto an iPod nano 7th Gen please let me know.

If it helps at all the movies I have been trying are Star Wars Revenge of the Sith, Forrest Gump and Top Gun.

You cannot use the "Create iPod or iPhone version" command if the movie (or TV show or music video) is a purchase from iTunes Store, because the video has DRM (copy protection), as required by content producers. That's why the command is greyed out.

Try going to the Purchased screen in iTunes (click Purchased along right side of main iTunes Store screen). On the Purchased screen for movies, at the bottom right corner of window, there is a checkbox for Download HD When Available. Uncheck it, and find the movies. If there is a download cloud for the movies, download it. When only the HD version is currently stored on your computer, you should get the SD version.

iTunes can have both HD and SD versions of a purchased movie in its library at the same time. They are not shown separately, but it will say "HD-SD" next to movie name in library list, if it has both. Most SD movies should load and play on iPod nano.
