Q: want to migrate her old files across from the old (2010) macbook

So what I want to do is to first set up the macbook I just bought my wife as an entirely new device and set her up with a brand new AppleID while doing it. Then I want to migrate her old files across from the old (2010) macbook she has. Possible? I have NOT powered up the new macbook (gold one) even though it's tempting. I want to establish her as a separate identity. Any advice?

Thank you for your response and your advice. I was able to successfully migrate the old macbook to the new one. I used my WIFi network and it took about 9 hours but it all worked flawlessly.

Thank you very much. Worked well. Took about 9 hours over WiFi network in my house but it worked!
