Duplicate files in the same folder

Hello,

I have an hard disk formatted NTFS that connect to an iMac 21 - El Capitan.

This hard disk contains video files.

I have found that some folders contain duplicate files in the same folder, for example:

User uploaded file

If I perform a scan with an application to search for duplicate files, the result is No duplicate file.

If I copy the folder with these files from external HD to Desktop, I get the warning of duplicate files.

If this hard disk I connect it to another Mac (with Yosemite), I don't see the duplicate files.

Below is some useful info:

iMac 21 Late 2013

8GB RAM

SSD EVO 850 - 250 GB

El Capitan 10.11.2

External drive: WD Elements 2 TB - NTFS

Paragon NTFS - V. 14.1.83

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Hi Alieno

Is your NTFS drive being accessed through Paragon? Because I'm using Paragon and have the same problem; so is this user below:Duplicate files in Finder with NTFS disks

I'm planning to replace Paragon with Tuxera. When I upgraded Paragon recently I went through the worst upgrade experience in my thirty year tech career, and the company was arrogant & unhelpful; subsequently I've heard similar reports about Paragon from others. I've done some research on Tuxera and they seem to be a great company.

Let me know if Paragon turns out to be the problem here

by the way, uninstalling Paragon just solved the problem for me!

As a footnote, I have a few external hard drives containing my whole collection of movies, carefully ripped from my DVD collection. Somehow I drifted into keeping all these on NTFS-formatted drives, thinking "handy if I need to plug the drive into a Windows machine".

This glitch with Paragon has made me rethink this approach - do I really want to have my entire movie collection in the hands of a third-party disk interface, that could screw up and lose everything, or be subtly corrupting my files? So I'm busy moving my whole collection onto Mac OS Extended (Journalling) drives...

For about the past 5 years i have been using Paragon software with a version (that came with a hard drive i had bought (seagate of cause).

Back then i was using snow leaped and would experience little odd copy problems that at the time i put down to my data being corrupt.

And over the years strange little problems that i could not pinpoint a common cause (I forgot about the paragon software)

The software that came with the hard drive would only work with seagate drives so i have for a whole now been using V12 of the software (trial version) until recently i found that my ntfs drive was not being mounted again i thought it was because of corrupt data (computer has been turned off incorrectly a lot) and did not think much of it. Then i found that if i remove the paragon software it would all work tho i did not have write access. I found that this was a problem in recent versions so i went back to the really old version i had and found the same problems. So i then downloaded the latest version V14 and it all seemed to be working correctly.

I Thought that is fantastic they have fixed there little glitch that maybe occur in later ver of OSX as i am now running Yosemite.

At this point i was about to buy the full version paragon (What a waste of money that would have been)

Well So now it am finally decide to sort through my really big mess of data and file it so i can find things and also have a better backup copy.

I start doing this and again i have these odd copy problems and now i all so find the same odd problem that you have displayed in your post of double copies that just should not be possible to have. Still thinking that there must be a data corruption maybe i look for someone else that has had the same problem.

Took me a day to find your post and it is the only one that relates to just how bad paragon is as other peoples problems where to do with illegal characters and this was not my problem as the glitch is somewhat random.

After reading your post i finally realise that paragon is my problem i uninstall it and problem goes away.

So for the past 5 years or so Paragon NTFS has not only cased me big head aches it has also caused me to lose a lot of data as i had thought that it was corrupt. I cant believe that a company could sell something for so long that is so crap.

I am now trying Tuxera NTFS and it seems to be working correctly so far. Tho i still don't trust it and have decided to keep all my data on an HFS+ partition.

Thank you for your post it has been very helpfull.
