IPhone 6S requires newer version of ITunes

Just bought New IPhone 6S, which has IOS 9.2, and the version of ITunes I have on my MacBook Pro is 12.2.2.25 and I get the "IPhone requires newer version of ITunes" message as well. Went to ITunes.com, downloaded the version I already had installed (Just in case) restarted my computer, re-attached the phone and still got the same message.

Help.

only 2 options

1. upgrade your OS X to a version which support the required version of itunes

2. use virtualbox and install windows vista or 7 as a virtual machine and install the latests iTunes and sync that way

and of cause last get a new mac

because as it's stated here https://www.apple.com/iphone-6s/specs/

iTunes 12.3 or later

is a requirement of the phone
