Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you are not able to download any free content from iTunes after adding a prepaid card to your iTunes account.
It could be possible that the prepaid card has affected your iTunes account in some way because prepaid cards are typically not accepted by the iTunes Store according to the following article.
Payment methods you can use in the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBooks Store - Apple Support
To troubleshoot this situation, I would recommend placing one of the accepted cards outlined from the same article on your account. This will take care of any past due balance, if the prepaid card was not actually charged, and get your account back in working order so that you can download free apps again.
The next article talks more about this situation in more detail.

Another option you have is to contact Apple Support directly so that we can look in to your account and help you get this situation resolved. If you would like to go this route, click the following link to contact Apple Support.

From this link, you will:
1. Choose Purchases, Billing & Redemption
