Q: Cannot see photo's from icloud on iMac

Goodday!

For a while I have a problem when trying to see photo's on my iMac that were made with my iPhone or iPad.

Photo's that I make with my iPhone stream nicely to icloud and I can see them almost immediately on my other devices (iPad etc.). Only on my iMac they appear as blank photo-frames with a cloud symbol in them. No matter how long I wait I will not see the photo's. In the right hand corner there is a quarter circle displayed or an ! that says that something went wrong during download.  I have plenty of space on my icloud account and it works fine on my mobile devices but not on the iMac.

iMac : OS El Capitain 10.11.2, mobile devices: iOS 9.2. All updates done on all devices.

Anybody has an idea how to solve this?

Thanks!

Eric

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9), 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 8G Mem.

    Hello h.j.e.,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!

From your question, it sounds like you are using iCloud Photo Library on your devices. Photos taken on your iPhone or iPad show up across your devices and the iCloud website, but you do not see these photos on your Mac. I also understand that you are seeing an error that indicates something failed during the download.

To troubleshoot this situation, I would recommend using the Photos library repair tool. this will re-update the entire contents of the library with iCloud after the repair process completes.

Use the Photos library repair tool - Apple Support

    Cheers!

    Thanks Joe for your help!

I started the repair tool and now the iCloud library is being renewed. Since I have 11000 pictures in it, this takes a while. I'll update you on the results once it's done.

    Thanks again!

Hmmm, could it be that simple? YES it is!

Solved my problem. Having this problem number of times lately, so know how to fix it now.

Hope Apple will update to prevent this from happening in future.

Thanks for helping Joe & iphoneuser!

Apple is not going to prevent any errors adn rebooting is always a good thing to try as it reset many things - even better is shutting down and powering up again
