Reinstalling Snow Leopard w/o loosing preferences

Hello Everyone,

I'm experiencing OS 10.6 issues ( system takes 15mn to reboot)

I'd like to reinstall the OS but don't want to lose my user preference (mail , Itune, etc )

Can someone please help me through the re-install process?

I understand Time machine is the way to go.

Thanks in advance

David

After making a backup, preferably 2 on 2 separate drives, boot off the DVD and run Disk Utility Verify/Repair Disk and Repair Permissions until you get no errors. Reformat the drive using Disk Utility/Erase Mac OS Extended (Journaled), then click the Option button and select GUID. Then re-install the OS.

When you reboot, use Setup Assistant to restore your data.
