iPhoto quits everytime I open it – the information pane seems to be causing it

v9.4.3 on 10.8.5?

A lot of older versions of iPhoto 11 are having this right now:

1. goto /Applications/iPhoto.app/Contents/Resources

2. delete the files ' googlemap.html ' and googlesearch.html

Iphoto no longer crashes, places doesn't work but it doesn't bother me too much.

I can live with this workaround short-term, but I hope Apple releases a true fix. My system specs:

MacBook Pro

OSX 10.8.5

iPhoto '11, version 9.4.3 (720.91)

The "true fix" was released a couple of years ago. Upgrade your OS and upgrade your iPhoto.

LOL. Yes, but upgrades come with trade offs -- namely other bugs and oftentimes unforeseen expenses. Thanks for your advice, Terence. 🙂

As does running out-of-date versions of no-longer-developed software, as you can see.

I was going crazy trying to figure out why iPhoto was crashing all the time, i tried a few other solutions suggested on the threads I read here, nothing worked until I deleted those two files. iPhoto is working perfectly once again. I can live without places and I'm not ready to upgrade just yet. So thanks again for posting this info 🙂

I don't see the path /Applications/iPhoto.app/Contents/Resources on my MacBook Pro. I'm running OSX version 10.8.5. In my Applications folder, iPhoto has no sub-categories. Any other suggestions?

Right click on the iPhoto application and choose 'Show Package Contents', a new finder window will open at the contents folder, the rest is within.
