24 inch display dies

After 5 years my Apple 24 inch cinema display has failed. I find it annoying to have such a large piece of junk to throw away and I find the planned obsolescense of such things upsetting. Having said that, it seems many others have only achieved much shorter lives. My policy is that if I'm not happy I like to switch to another manufacturer, even if no better performance is expected. I've taken a look at a Dell 27 UltraHD 4K Monitor - P2715Q . It has only 93% of the brightness of Apple's latest 27 inch Thunderbolt display, but it has a lot higher resolution, is about the same size, weighs less, has no integrated camera or laptop power, but does have a USB hub and the same number of USB ports, has lots of display interface flexibility and comes with cable that plugs into Thunderbolt port - no Thunderbolt interface in Dell monitor but the interface works. The real beauty is that I can get for half the price of 27 inch Apple display. Does anyone have any experience they can offer?
