Q: How to repair where a blade cut a clip

I accidentally made a cut in a clip, did some editing, then realized afterwards about the accident. Without undoing all the way back to the accidental blade, is there a way I can select the two clips and repair them back together? Almost like a sticking tool? I know making a compound clip (option - command - G) would do the trip but i want the original clip available
