IOS 9, 9.1, 9.2 problems - Hide Purchases not working in Family Sharing

*HELP! This is my first-ever question to the community, because I've spent hours on this issue myself, and 2 apple support calls -- and even they're stumped! I know this is a little lengthy but after reading endless support articles and community posts myself, I wanted to supply as many details as possible to save some time for people trying to help by asking more questions or offering ideas I've already tried. 😉*

Less than a month ago my husband and I changed cellular carriers and purchased new phones (new carrier is Verizon). My new iphone 6s plus has been set up for about 3 weeks (old phone was 5c running ios 9.1). But the new 6s plus came with some version of iOS 8 installed...had to set up as "new" to install software update, THEN reset and erase phone and set up again, with "restore from backup" from icloud with my apple id. All my content seems to be there, but several little "snafus" in functioning, and not sure if it's new phone or new operating system. :/

But specifically, one particular problem I discovered yesterday.......I downloaded a new app on Christmas day (where you can create a video showing Santa in your actual living room to show your kids, etc. Then I immediately realized in panic.... we have Family Sharing! And my kids could also see app! So I went in to "hide" as I'd done before on my old 5c (App Store>Updates>Purchases....then it shows the names of each family member and their purchase or downloads.) So I went into my purchases and swiped left as always, clicked on the red "HIDE" tab, and it disappeared (temporarily!). Moments later I went back in to purchases and it was there again. Then I checked my husband's phone, and my daughter's iPod and the app was still there as well!! It does not "hide" anymore in Family Sharing! I've spoken w/ Apple support twice today, and the second was even a return call from a senior advisor who said she had spoken with nine different people, including engineers, and there was no conclusive response for the issue.

I know for sure it "used to work" as all my previously hidden content or my husband's music etc., are still visible in our hidden content on iTunes from our swipe-and-hide actions on our 5c phones. But now, with my new 6s Plus (and his is a 6, and my daughter has an ipod touch 5th gen.), HIDE option is still there, and appears to work initially, but doesn't. I've tried a restart, a hard reboot, signing out of icloud, signing of itunes, and connecting new phone to itunes on pc which I hadn't done yet. Still nothing works. And, as a test we tried to swipe and hide an app from my husband's phone - doesn't work either....the "hidden" app was still visible on my AND my daughter's devices. So it seems this is an operating system issue, not a phone issue at least (??). And btw, we are all updated currently and running 9.2.

I have researched tons, and NOTHING is coming up about anyone else having this issue. I think this is the first thing I've ever had a google search that came up with no valid results. Even with the lengthy phone calls today, no resolution. Last person I spoke with said she would research this more and we have an "appointment" for her to call me back tomorrow evening. She was very nice and tried to help, but I had already tried pretty much everything she suggested, and no luck. Oh and just a NOTE: When we went into itunes on my laptop/pc, and manually hid the app from there, it FINALLY worked (so at least in this case I didn't let Santa out of the bag!). So it put a "bandaid" on my specific issue, but did not solve the bigger problem. And current apple support website article clearly states that you can hide purchases in Family Sharing by swiping left and hitting the red HIDE tab in an support article dated 12-17-15, not even 10 days ago. So it's not something that is a "change" from the developer with the new iOS 9 updates....they're obviously not aware of the issue, or how to correct it. And, this is my first "post" ever to the community, just wondering if anyone else has experienced this, or knows why it might be happening, and/or how to fix it! 🙂 Thank you all so much, and help and greatly appreciated!

I have this problem too, exactly as you describe, and I have an iPhone 5C currently running iOS 8.4 (only because my storage is too full to update and I'm too lazy to update through my computer, (just got my daughter's old Retina 2012 with all her content still everywhere, photos, itunes, etc. I need to make sure I have a couple hrs to sit diwn and properly backup her things, get them out of the way and connect my phone etc for first time, yada yada...))

Anyway, i can't find an answer anywhere. This issue spoiled a few appstore gifts the kids were receiving for xmas because we have family sharing, so I'm quite ticked off. I am posting a reply so helpers will know this is not an iPhone release specific issue (OP has 6Plus, I have 5C,) nor is it the new iOS (OP has 9.2 and I'm running 8.4.1).

I'm eager for a fix because this is such an annoying problem for an important feature. Seems like it should be a simple fix, but i don't think Apple cares about it. They didn't care about helping solve the family use of appstore purchases for a VERY long time until family sharing came into play.

Thanks to the OP for taking the time to tediously document the issue so well and saving me that effort. 🙂
