Q: Says it needs an Update but already Updated

I just got the new 6s & I've been trying to sync the new phone with my itunes library. When I first tried connecting it, it said I needed to update it, so I did. It's currently at the newest Itunes update. The problem is that it still says I need to go to Itunes & download the new version even though I already have it & because of it, it will not let me sync the phone to my library. I've tried everything from shutting it off, signing out & research.

Below is the message error I keep getting:

    Hello eburris3794,

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

If I understand correctly, you're seeing an alert message that tells you to update to the latest version of iTunes when you attempt to sync your iPhone 6s with your Mac. This message is most likely appearing because iTunes doesn't meet the system requirements for your device, you can find the system requirements here:

    iPhone 6s - Technical Specifications - Apple

    System Requirements

Apple ID (required for some features)

    Internet access8

Syncing with iTunes on a Mac or PC requires:

    • Mac: OS X v10.8.5 or later
    • PC: Windows 7 or later
    • iTunes 12.3 or later (free download from www.itunes.com/download)

Try taking a look at the article below which outlines the process for upgrading the operating system on a Mac to OS X El Capitan, after upgrading OS X you will be able to install the latest version of iTunes.

Upgrade to OS X El Capitan - Apple Support

    Take care.
