new apple tv, used the remote and now I-pad air sound not working

got new apple tv, used remote for a while before getting it linked to box, now sound on i-pad air (ver 9.2) does not work

It sounds like there's an issue that's preventing the audio from working as expected on your iPad Air and it occurred after using the Remote app with your Apple TV. This may be happening because AirPlay is on, try turning it off as shown here:

Use AirPlay to wirelessly stream content from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Turn AirPlay off

  1. On your iOS device, swipe up from the bottom of your screen to open Control Center.
  2. Tap AirPlay.
  3. Tap your device at the top of the AirPlay list.

If the issue persists, try restarting your iPad as shown in the article below.
