ipad pro PowerPoint file to usb drive

It took me a while to figure out how, but I finally just managed to do this with a 2017 iPad Pro and the Sandisk Connect. I used the Sandisk app only for connecting the drive to the home wireless. Once I had done that, I could connect to the internet and the drive at the same time. Then I closed the Sandisk app and I doubt I’ll need to use it again.

Instead, I use “Documents By Readdle”, which is the world’s worst named app 😉. Using that, I can see the Sandisk Connect and drop files into it almost as though it’s a thumb drive plugged in to the iPad. I haven’t tried .ppt files, but I was able to transfer the firmware update for my printer, and if it can do that, it shouuld cope with any other file type. It’s a bit slow, but it works. I can also transfer files to the Sandisk from Google Drive and vice versa.

Just found how to move word docs, etc to ixpand flash drive. My wife if bedfast and uses her ipad all of the time. I mostly got the sandisk ixpand thumb drive to put her pictures on for a back up and for her to look at family pictures copied from my computer. But, then she wanted to write a word document and for me to print it off that ixpand thumb drive. I installed the word app on her ipad. You go to the file created in the word app and on the side with some dots, choose to share to another app. Search the apps and pick the ixpand app and copy the file to it and it will copy to the ixpand thumb drive.

This issue may have long been solved, but if not here's one that worked! File Manager or File Manager Pro by LTD DevelSoftware. (btw it gets very few and poor reviews which is a bit bizarre because it is very slick and functions great). I used it to get my PowerPoint files from my iPad Air to a USB stick plugged into a RAVPower device which is a small hot spot WiFi Hub. This is a small workaround but it works. First configure the software so that it reads your device through either DNLA or SMB. It will scan automatically, which is nice. Then configure a cloud service such as DropBox in File Manager. Then export your Keynote or PowerPoint file to Dropbox the normal way. And from there copy or move it using File Manager to your USB drive which is plugged into whatever and identified by File Manager. Worked great!

I know this is an old post but I believe I have your answer and it might help the next person looking for a solution.

Then connect to the flash drive (I have the SanDisk Connect Wireless Stick 64GB)

Then go to the SanDisk app, go to My Downloads, Select in bottom right corner, choose your file, then touch the little box with the arrow, Select Move to Folder

The flash drive comes up. I made another folder called office files.

Select Move here, Then wait. At the top it says Moving 1 file

When it's done it says 1 file successfully moved

I plug the flash drive into a computer and my file is there! Yay!

Do note that the user guide states that

On the iPad I went to Powerpoint (I do have a subscription) and made a new talk.

I then selected "Save a Copy"

I picked the SanDisk iExpand Drive

It worked!

Then I removed the USB drive and plugged it into a PC... and it worked great!

So: problem is SOLVED! This works!!! Whoo hoo!

I can now use my iPad Pro as my main machine!

So excited as this was the last piece holding me back.

Sandisk usually come with a very nice security software that work on mac and pc. Does it work with the secure access too?

This SanDisk USB flash drive WILL work!

You transfer files from iPad to USB flash drive over WIfI.

This works with any iDevice/Android device., I use one for my iPad and my Mom has one for her iPad.

This works for what you need this to do.

You need to reformat the drive on a computer from ExFat to MS-DOS Fat as a lot of current and older electronic devices that can have access/read USB flash drives cannot read the ExFat format, but CAN read MS-DOS format.

The limitation of the MS-DOS Fat format is you can't have a single data file no bigger than 4GB in size.

Also, you can either create folder structures on the computer OR you can create folders on this USB flash drive through the iPad.

This drive has a special iOS app that you use to access the drive.

In addition the WiFi signal along with the flash memory nature of the drive allows you to store and stream video content from the drive.

Okay I see what you mean.

You can upload videos and images easily to the drive from the iPad, but no way to do this easily with any documents on the iPad, itself.

I hadn't realised this.

I"ll check the Seagate website about this.

I checked the SanDisk website and you can only load documents and presentations onto the drive from a computer.

No way once is it saved in an app to the iPad to transfer it back to the drive.

Could you use somethimg like DropBox or iCloud or Evernote or something like Team Viewer or another offsite, "Cloud" server app to upload the presentation to the server and have a link or some way to have the recipient get the file from the cloud to their device?

I already went to that web site and had a long conversation with tech support person. they could not help but are researching your post. With out a usb connection the iPad is far less useful for real work and interface with other computers. Apple should tell you this when you buy the device.
