I am trying to pair my iPod nano 7th generation with an older Bluetooth speaker with Bluetooth 3.0 but the nano will not even recognize it. Is it possible to pair them, or will the technologies not talk to each other?

Are you using the steps described on page 52 (Chapter 12) of the 7th gen nano user guide?

Thank you for your response. Yes, I have followed the steps outlined. I have several other Bluetooth devices that I use with no problem connecting. I just assume at this point the speaker is not compatible for some reason. It is strange that it doesn't even show up in the discoverable list. The speaker is a margarittaville sound shot and pairs with other devices....just not my Nano.
I have the same problem. Apparently, this Nano 7th is only compatible to Bluetooth V4.0. or stereo audio A2D2. I tried connecting my BT speaker V3.0 to my iPod Touch 5th gen and Macbook Pro, and it worked. So I think, it's really a compatibility issue.
