Transferring songs from I tunes 3rd gen to 5th generation video ipod???

Hello,

I just purchased an ipod 5th generation video model 30 gb and had a 3rd generation 20 gb ipod before.

I am having problems converting the songs, files onto the new video ipod.

I have resetted everything, reinstalled the software, taken the proper steps and i tunes still reads the old ipod(3rd generation).

Can anyone help me???
