Q: Is there any way to disable the optical drive noise on waking from sleep?

I'm trying to disable the optical drive noise both of my 13" MBP's make when waking from sleep or during startup. This was disabled in past installations of OSX through a firmware update, but It seems to have come back in the last few major releases.
