Q: Allow a managed user to login to Mac

How can I allow my son, a managed user, to log in to my Mac Book Pro?  I'm able to allow a guest and myself, administrator, to log in after shut down.  I don't see a login option for a managed user.

Thanks!

MacBook Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.2)

You need to create an account in System Preferences > Users & Groups.

When do you see the login screen where the managed user doesn't appear? Is it immediately after start, or does the progress bar load and then list the users?

If it is immediately, that is FileVault and you didn't include that managed user in the users able to decrypt the drive.

I don't know if you can add users after setting it up. If you can, it would be in the Security & Privacy system prefs, FileVault tab.

The login screen appears after the progress bar load.  Afterward, I'm able to login, as well as, a guest.

My son is able to to "switch users" after I log in.  I'd like for him to be able to login to the Mac on his own without having me login first.  He has a managed account (parental controls).  When I go to Users/Groups, I don't see an option to allow him to log in.

    Thank you for responding!

Then the problem isn't FileVault, but it also has nothing to do with it being a managed account, nor is there some setting to change.

I don't know why he doesn't show up in the list of users on login.

If it was somehow hidden, these procedures may unhide him.
