Dec 28, 2015 1:52 AM in response to Wrongtomby OGELTHORPE,★HelpfulI would leave it connected to the power adapter for an hour or two and then try another SMC reset and try to boot the MBP. If no success, make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar for a FREE evaluation.
Ciao.

Dec 28, 2015 1:52 AM in response to OGELTHORPEby Wrongtom,Left it connected to the power adapter which began to give an unblinking orange LED. Then pressed the power button and it powered up. Boom. Now the MagSafe is giving a flashing green and the charge is dropping. I have no spare power adapter to check to see if the fault is only on that. Is it worth doing the SMC reset anyway to see if that fixes it?

Dec 28, 2015 3:01 AM in response to Wrongtomby OGELTHORPE,Performing a SMC reset will NOT harm the MBP. Do it more than once just to be certain.
Ciao.
