    Photos is weak, but it will grow better.

    DxO has just announced a DxO OpticsPro plugin for Photos. Great.

    If you upgrade to El Capitan and Photos for Mac version 1.2 you can use Photo Editing Extensions.

    Some applications from the Mac App Store support editing extensions. These can be accessed in Photos from the Edit view.

    For example Affinity Photos, Pixelmator, and some of the MacPhun applications offer extensions.
