iPhone & iPad not showing in iTunes

I have windows 10 installed into my laptop and the newest up date of iTunes. However, ever since I got the new iTunes update my phone and iPad won't connect to it.

I can access my photos and bit's through the folders on my computer so the connection is fine; I also tried different leads but no luck. Is anyone else having the same problem or know anyway to help me?

Thank you

iPhone 6, iOS 9.2

Try the following:

  1. Open Control Panel > Device Manager
  2. Plug in your device
  3. Locate Universal Serial Bus Controllers > Apple Mobile Device USB Driver
  4. Right-click and select Update Driver Software...
  5. Click Browse my computer for driver software
  6. Browse to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers or
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers
  7. Click Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
  8. Click Apple Mobile Device USB Driver
  9. Click Next, then Close and exit Device Manager

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach.

Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.

The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.

Your library and device backups should be unaffected by these steps but there are links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

Ok finally Fixed this problem after wasting quite a few hours.

Answer is pretty simple I tunes has some sort of error, and needs a reinstall

I was able to back up my photos directly onto the PC (no music on my phone)

Then Uninstalled:

  • ITunes
  • Apple Software upgrade
  • Apple mobile Device support
  • Bonjoir
  • Apple application support

Then reinstalled off apple website

When I reinstalled the old backup of the phone was still there, did not attempt to use this just made a new backup.

All working now 🙂 Jim Boyer, Business Coach
