Dec 28, 2015 6:42 PM in response to OregonStreamsby léonie,★HelpfulThe RAW support for this camera is built directly into El Capitan (Digital camera RAW formats supported by OS X El Capitan - Apple Support), even if the Aperture RAW support page does not list the camera.
How long does it take to load the gigantic RAW files? I only ever experimented with large TIFFs (80MB), and the loading took several seconds in Aperture 3.6.

Dec 28, 2015 6:43 PM in response to léonieby OregonStreams,Hi Leonie... I did a test with 10 82 meg RAW files over USB on a MacMini and it took under 40 seconds. So less than 4 seconds per file.

How much memory does your Mac Mini have? Before I upgraded the RAM to 16 GB my MacBook pro could not open my large scans at all.

Dec 29, 2015 1:36 PM in response to léonieby OregonStreams,leonie... I repeated my test and I am still getting about a 4 second load time from a Sony A7Rii to a Late 2014 mac mini 2.6 G i5 with 8G Ram and a 1 Terabyte hard drive Intel Iris Graphics with 1536 MB. It may be the USB connection for the load speed and the graphics card for display? I went from a Mac Pro Tower with 4 drives to a Mac Mini! The $10 DXO plug in for Photos seems to recognize my camera and lens also.

Dec 29, 2015 1:58 PM in response to OregonStreamsby léonie,The new dynamic libraries for graphics processing in El Capitan are very efficient.I found that large image files are loading much faster in Photos than in Aperture, but my largest files are TIFF, my RAW files are modarately sized compared to your Sony files.
