External Screen goes on sleep mode after plugging it in

Hi,

I'm having trouble with my external monitor, as soon as I plug it in, it goes to sleep and doesn't display anything.

My Macbook (Retina mid-2012) can recognise the screen, as I see it in the preferences (name and reference), but it doesn't display anything, I also tried another screen, with another HDMI cable, it's the same thing.

Specs :

Mid-2012 Retina Macbook Pro

2.6Ghz i7

16gb of memory

Graphics : nVidia GeForce GT 650 @ 1gb + Intel HD400

Running on El Capitan.

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.1)

Hi kibstr,

I understand your Macbook Pro knows you have connected your extertal display but the external screen(s) stay black. They go to sleep as if not getting a signal. Good job testing with another cable and display.

There's a troubleshooting section "If the display image is blank or unusable" in this article:

Although you have tried some of the steps, please try the other steps.

Howdy kibstr,

Thanks for going through the article. If you have gone through all the troubleshooting there is that last step.
