Dropbox / Google Drive Finder Integration Missing

Dropbox and Google Drive no longer displays custom folder icons and also loses their custom finder integration "sync" icons and right-click on files to easily share them using Finder.

Since installing El Capitan 10.11.2 (15C50) on my MacBook Pro 15" Retina, this started happening with Dropbox app (everything works find on my Mac Mini on the exact same version of El Capitan?) and I posted this to the Dropbox forum believing it was app specific, until another user suggested I try and install Google Drive and then I discovered both have a missing Finder integration.

I've seen this happening too, with the icons initially being there and then being deleted. I found today, that launching the apps (I don't have them as login anymore) then changing the options for the icons to stop integrating, then reenabling it, that they are now in the finder. I did have to close all finder windows and open a fresh one for this to work.

Fingers crossed, so far the icons remain in place and I have the integration features you mentioned also.

I have the same problem with both Dropbox and Google Drive, and can't find solution 😕

Unless Dropbox and Google have updated their software, then the ball is in their court for OS X compatiblity improvements. You should monitor them for updates.

I've actually found a solution that works for me for both Dropbox & Drive

Here's what I did:

1. Boot to Recovery OS (hold cmd+r on startup)

2. In terminal enter: csrutil disable

3. Restart and boot as normal (finder integration works now)

4. Boot to Recovery OS again

5. In terminal enter: csrutil enable

6. Restart
