Q: playback skipping

My apple tv, which I have used for over a year - has great features and apps - BUT performance is very disappointing.  I have two locations with good internet speeds consistently over 35 mbps - whether playing through my Mac (my daughter's MacBook Pro) or my Mac Air - video streaming skips A LOT.  very disturbing and distracting.  Multiple time per minute.  When playing music from my iPhone - it often cuts out and disconnects in addition to skipping.  I have very good equipment (high-end Samsung TVs, audio equipment) and different wireless modems in each location.  The performance or lack thereof is at both locations.  Apple usually does a great job at audio - it is surprising for such an end-game product to see this kind of poor performance.  The Apple TV features and apps beat chromecast and Samsung apps - and work better except the distracting playback.

    I understand that you're experiencing interruption during playback when using AirPlay from any of your devices.  This indicates that there are either settings that need to be updated on your Wi-Fi router, or wireless interference causing this issue.  For assistance, I suggest that you look through the information below.

     

    If your content gets interrupted or your network lags

    If you have a weak Wi-Fi signal or interference from a nearby device, like a microwave or baby monitor, try these steps:

    1. Make sure that you're using the recommended settings for your Wi-Fi router.
    2. Move or turn off other devices that might cause interference.
    3. If possible, connect your Apple TV directly to your router with an Ethernet cable instead of using Wi-Fi.

    Your AirPlay connection might get interrupted when you lock your device, put it to sleep, or switch to a different app

    Get help with AirPlay and AirPlay Mirroring on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
