Scanning fabric

iMac El Capitan and Epson XP312 printer/scanner

I have just scanned fabric samples into my (new) quilt design programme but, although the colour looks okay at the overview stage, once I scan it the colours bear little resemblance to the originals. e.g. the cream fabric now looks blue, the blue looks dark grey and the patterned blue and cream is now grey and white.

I have tried using Image Capture and Preview, the 'Kind' box says 'Color' and Resolution is 96.

Bearing in mind that I am a better quilter than computer user does anyone have any suggestions please?

I have found the Epson app for scanning images but when I click on it I get a message saying 'cannot communicate with scanner. To make things worse I don't seem to be able to scan at all now - using Image Capture or Preview I get 'an error occurred while communicating with the scanner (9923)'. I can still print as usual.

Any other suggestions please??

Thank you - it works! The Epsom app still won't communicate with the scanner but Preview and Image Capture are both working. I experimented with different colours - Preview creams are still very blue but Image Capture is working beautifully so I am more than happy to live with that.

Thank you so much for talking me through this; I really appreciate your help.
