Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you want sync your iPod with iTunes on your new iMac, but are receiving an alert that your media will be erased. The best option would be to transfer all of your purchased content on your iPod to the new computer. You also have the option to download any past purchases via the steps in the article below.
Redownload or transfer your iTunes Store purchases from an iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
This feature works only for content bought from the iTunes Store. If your device is using iOS 9 or later, apps you download don’t transfer to iTunes. Any items that you imported from audio CDs or received from other sources won't copy from your device to the iTunes library.
Any imported media will not transfer. However, if you still have access to the computer that was originally used to sync with the iPod nano, you can transfer the imported media via the steps in the quoted section below.
Music imported from a CD or other source* - Use Home Sharing to access music in iTunes from different computers.
- Back up your iTunes library or use iTunes Match2.
Sync media between your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch and iTunes on your Mac or PC
Cheers
