Q: My Macbook Air heats up and the fan gets extremely loud while playing Minecraft. Is this normal?

Every time I enter Minecraft on my Mac, and ONLY Minecraft, my computer will begin to heat up after about a minute. It heats up underneath, and at first I thought it was the case it's in. It stays heated until I log off of Minecraft, and then it will begin to fade. The fan gets extremely loud as well. It's a little weird when I shut down my computer right after I finish playing. The heat will stay and slowly fade after it is completely asleep, but the fan just stops right as the computer is shut down. I have many friends who play the same version of Minecraft on a Windows platform, and their computers don't heat up. Can someone please tell me if this is supposed to happen, and if not, how I can fix it?

    It sounds like Minecraft is causing your computer to heat more than you're expecting it to. To be honest that sounds like expected behavior to me. Minecraft can be a pretty graphics intensive game. I would recommend taking a look at the following article for some tips and information about best practices when it comes to the operating temperature of your computer:

    It is possible that you may need to reset the SMC on your computer since it controls the thermal management system on the computer:

    Next I would suggest uninstalling and reinstalling the game following the procedure provided by the games maker, as that might be of some benefit if there is something not quite right with the installation.
