Q: iphone signal loss after activation

Hello,

I 'm asking the help of the community to know if anybody has the same problem that I'm having.

I have an iPhone 5S that after erasing it and setting it up, can be used to make all the thing related with data (browse, WhatsApp, etc.) but can not make phone calls nor send SMS.

After deleting and restoring the iPhone, the signal bars are complete, but AFTER activation (the iPhone contact Apple activation servers), the signals bar get empty.

The iPhone recognise the local carrier (ANTEL, I'm in Uruguay) but the signal bars are empty. But us I said, I can browse the Internet at full speed, but when I try to place a phone call the message Call Ended appears.

After many attempts, I arrived to a procedure that ensures me that the problem arrive after activation.

1) === Unlock iPhone activation===

I know that before lending an iPhone to another person, the Find my iPhone functionality must be turned off.

Using https://www.icloud.com/activationlock/  I check that the activation lock is OFF

And I proceed to turn OFF the Find my iPhone functionality, and after that  the activation lock turns OFF.

2) === Delete and restore iPhone and proceed to setup just before the activation step===

After deleting and restoring the iPhone, I proceed to setup it up as a new iPhone choosing language and country.

As the iPhone don't have the passwords for the WiFi or celular data network, the device can't connect to Internet and the activation fails.

But the signal bar is almost full.

3) === Connect iPhone to Internet and activate it. ===

When I give access to Internet, the iPhone makes that activation and proceed to the next step: enable localization.

At that moment, the signal bar gets empty.
