Unable to share photos by Mail

When I try to share a picture from Photos the only options I get are "iCloud Sharing", "Airdrop", and "Notes". When I click on "More" I can see the "Mail" and "Messages" options ticked but "greyed out" as is the Airdrop option (altho this IS available on the "Share" button!!


So the question is: How do I select a few photos to send by Mail straight from Photos?

MacBook Air, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

Is Apple's Mail.app set as your default email reader? You can do that in the the Mail > Preferences > General. Then you should be able to share directly from Photos to Mail.
