demo - not for resale (iphone6s plus)

I was given a brand new iPhone6s plus (16GB Rose gols) by my Dad for christmas. My iphone was purchased from USA (and I'm currently in the Philippines). to my surprise though, upon opening the the "sealed" box, it only contains the adapter and the lightning 8pin cord (it did not have any headphones on it)... i then checked the box and found out something that says "Demo - not for resale

My dad said that they purchased it outright and paid the taxes to ship it to me so I can experience unboxing my new iPhone6s Plus. I feel really bad about this... what should I do? 😟

Shipping it back to the USA is more expensive than buying a new one. I don't wanna disappoint my dad for this hassle though. what should I do? 😟

You need to clarify exactly where this was purchased. It certainly sounds like your Dad did not buy from Apple nor from an Apple Authorized Reseller.

i just communicated with Dad earlier and he said they purchased it from Walmart.. 😟

If that's the case then it sounds like a Walmart employee messed up and sold a unit that should not have been for sale in the first place.

That is oour dillema though. since this phone is now in the Philippines. It might take another 1 month to have it taken back to the store. 😟

yup. i think the person who sold it did not notice that it was a demo unit that was sold. It just too much hassle though. when i advised my dad about it, i know that he really felt bad about it. thinking that he wanted me to have it exactly on christmas day. he also paid the tax to have this mobile shipped to me. 😟

Are you saying there was no phone in the box? Or are you saying it was just missing the headphones? If you're just missing the headphones, buy another pair and move on. Definitely not worth the hassle. Personally, I don't think the included headphones are that great anyway. I never use them.

That's the thing. I wanted to make use of the phone. but it's not accepting any sim cards here in PH. It was actually asking to be unlocked to it's carrier which is unknown.

Send it back to your dad in the US. You will not be able to get it unlocked. It's useless. Sorry about the hassle, but there's nothing that can be done about it other than returning it to the point of purchase. Your issue is with Walmart. Apple can't help you.
