iTunes could not backup because not enough space on computer error

I just upgraded my Mac Pro to a larger SSD, from 500GB to 2TB, and in the process, also did an upgrade from Yosemite to El Capitan via a Clean Install then Migration Assistant.

Since then, iTunes always gives me an error for any iOS device of, "iTunes could not backup the iPhone (or iPad) because there is not enough free space on this computer to save the backup," even though there is 1.42 TB of free space.

I've tried all the suggestions from the Apple Product Support, If you can‘t make an iTunes backup of your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch but none of them resolved the issue.

I've manually run the Repair Permissions via Terminal (since Disk Utility no longer has that option) but it, too, does not resolve the issue. I do think it has something to do with permissions since I did a Clean Install and Migration Assistant.

Need help please!

I gave up and decided to do a clean install from 10.11 without doing any Migration Assistance and slowly recreating my personal environment and settings.

As an Apple user since the Apple ][+ days, I can speak from experience that Apple OS quality and support has definitely been degrading over the past couple years. When Jobs left the first time, Mac OS quality took a dive. Jobs returned and it improved. Now many years after his passing it seems history is repeating itself...
