IPhone won't connect to my wifi router, but my laptop is connected

So I noticed my Iphone 4s randomly lost its wifi connection to my home Xfinity router. There was no updates done or anything changed, it just cut out. Thinking my IPhone 4s has been pretty hit or miss recently I thought it was just one more thing wrong. I tried all the tricks of restarting with airplane mode, restarting the router, rebooting the phone, you name it. I checked my Itouch which has never given me any issues also couldn't connect to wifi. I thought maybe its the router. I checked my asus laptop which has perfect internet connection. So its not like my router is incapable of putting out an internet signal since I can use my laptop and my mom can use her nook. I reset the password to the router and rebooted both iphone and ipod and they both connected! yes! but that only lasted for maybe an hour. I'm currently back to a frustrating square 1. Now when I type into my Iphone the password it takes a few seconds to load, then the window pops up again for the password as if I never entered it to begin with. What on earth do I do?

It depends. When it came to the 4s, were you able to turn Wi-Fi on, or is it not on at all? Is the problem just logging into the Wi-Fi? The last step you can try on the phone before doing a restore is to go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. While this will not delete any data, it will make changes to your home pages and other custom settings you have made. Make sure you have a backup of the device before doing this, as you can always restore to that backup if you wish.

Wifi is on and it sees other networks that I can connect to, but when I chose my home network and type in the password I get the password screen again as if I never typed in my password or sometimes an "unable to connect to network" message. I have backed up my phone to my laptop and to icloud. So if I reset all settings that wont wipe my photos or messages out is what youre saying? I'll give it a go.

That is correct. If that does not correct your issue, you may have to restore the device to your backup, or restore the device to factory. If that does not correct the issue, then you will need to make an appointment at the Genius Bar of the nearest Apple Store or Authorized Apple Service provider, depending on your location, to have the hardware examined.
