I understand the Remote Connected message on your Apple TV is not going away. To get started with troubleshooting I recommend that you restart your Apple TV.
Restart your Apple TV
To restart your Apple TV (4th generation), go to Settings > System > Restart. For Apple TV (3rd generation and earlier), go to Settings > General > Restart.
