why is safari history on my iPhone empty?
iPhone 6s, iOS 9.2
if you have been using private browsing your history will not show. If you have not been using private browsing please provide more information. -AJ

Thank you so much. I can only add that it is very unclear if Private is on or off. How can one see the Status when the only difference is when the word Private appear with a background?

While in private browsing the background is dark. (adress bar, tabs, ect.) In normal mode the background is white. This link has some images of both: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203036
