Q: 2015 Retina Macbook Pro Freezing Issue

Hello all,

I am a new user to these forums so I apologize ahead of time if this thread appears in the wrong location. Now, that being said, I have had relatively consistent chain freezing with my Macbook Pro with 10.10.5 Yosemite. When I first got the laptop, I only had very infrequent freezing mainly when videos were playing (I normally chalked that up to some issue with Flash Player). More recently, (over the past day) it has been freezing at relatively random times and freezing when it tries to restart itself. I cannot reliably use the laptop with the problem.

I initially thought this problem might be related to some software issues, but I cannot get through an installation of an OS update. It makes it through about 100 mb of El Capitan and freezes.

What I have done:

1. Disk Utilitity Check

2. Apple Hardware Check (No issues found)

I did find the console error panic info and all of them are variations of these:

The next step I would suggest is TimeMachine Backup, then follow steps to access Apple Diagnostics.. This is a pre-boot diagnostic routine. You can use it to rule out any hardware/parts failure. Apple Diagnostics helps to identify the potential source of a hardware issue and provides first steps to try and resolve it.  Alternately on models before 2013: Shutting down the computer. Pressing the power button to turn it back on, and Pressing and hold the D key before the gray startup screen appears will produce the AHT a similar tool to Apple Diagnostics.

    Hey getstevensattention,

I did run Apple Diagnostics earlier and it did not discover any hardware problems. I have seen similar problems mentioned in other forum topics but I have not really found a solution anywhere.

As a side mention, I have been trying to update from 10.10.5 Yosemite to see if I can distance myself from the chain freezing error that I detailed above. I cannot finish downloading El Capitan though. It will start and then after a few seconds or up to a minute, the screen will freeze, turn black, and then an error message is printed in multiple languages. This is the same error I have been having in increasing frequency while running any application. This same freezing error also occurs in Safe Mode, so I am at a bit of a loss.
