Apple watch does not charge, green charge symbol flashes on and off

I have had my Apple watch since October 25th. About 2 weeks ago I started to get strange behaviour of the watch. It started to turn itself off, even though the battery indicator showed over 80% charged. Then when I turned the watch back on, the battery indicator was down to somewhere between 5% to 20% charge. I tried soft restore and a hard full restore of the watch, but neither of these helped. Then on the day before christmas eve, the watch turned itself off once more and now it totaly refuses to turn on again . When in the charger (all original items) the green charging logo on the charger and line simbol just flashes on the screen and it does not seem to charge anything. The watch and the charger become warm as can be expected when a battery is being charged.

Any suggestions for a solution? I live in Iceland, bought the watch in Spain, and as the official Apple store still does not sell the Apple watch here in Iceland, there is no official repair service to get for the watch here in Iceland.

Thanks for any suggestion

Hi - check that:

All plastic wrap has been removed from both ends and both sides of the charging cable (check closely on the head of the charger).

  • The back of your watch and the head of the charging cable are clean and dry (clean them with a lint-free cloth and retry).
  • The charging head is directly aligned with the back of the watch and touching it fully (some stands might hinder this).
  • You are using only the genuine Apple Magnetic Charging Cable.
  • If you are charging your watch by plugging into mains power, try using different adapters from the following:
    • The genuine Apple USB Power Adapter that was supplied with the watch, or;
    • A genuine Apple 5W (iPhone) or 12W (iPad) USB Power Adapter, or;
    • Apple-certified third-party equivalents of the above.
  • If charging via USB, ensure that you use a USB 2.0 or 3.0 port, the computer remains turned on and awake and the cable is plugged directly into the computer (not into, for example, an external keyboard).
  • If your battery is very low, you may need to wait for a few minutes before the green lightning bolt appears (confirming that charging has started).
  • If you have been charging only via mains power, try charging instead via a computer - and vice versa.

Otherwise, you will need to arrange for your watch and power accessories to be checked under warranty in a country where Apple Watch is available to buy from Apple or from Apple Authorised Distributors (you may perhaps have family or a trusted friend who can arrange this for you locally in such a country, in which case be sure to also provide them with your original receipt / proof of purchase).
