How long does it take for a request to remove find my iphone to go through?

hey guys, i traded in my ipad for a new pro AND LOVE IT, but the trade in company needed me to remove the "find my ipad" feature from it. So I logged into my icloud online and sent an erase request.

My questions is: How long does it take for that erase request to take effect?

Cheers,

Josh

As long as the iPad is connected to a network then the erasing/removal from the account should be pretty much immediate.

Activation lock : Turn off Find My iPhone Activation Lock - Apple Support

If the previous owner isn't present, contact them and ask them to follow these steps to remove the device from their account:

  1. Sign in to iCloud with their Apple ID.
  2. Go to Find My iPhone.
  3. Select All Devices to open a list of devices linked to their account, then select the device to be removed.
  4. Click Remove from Account.

After the previous owner removes the device from their account, turn off the device and then turn it back on to begin the setup process.

Turning the iPad off and back should get it to recognise that it's no longer linked to your account
