SMS is a carrier feature they will need to contact their cell phone provider.

there reply is in a grey bubble and "text message" above it.
uk phone on EE network. and contact is the same.

They would need to de-register their iMessage. Here is how:

odd thing is my phone and contacts phone settings havant been adjusted and texts were fine last night. its only hapend this morning.
