Q: Improper display of Tamil font in iCloud accessed via browser (Mac or PC)

Hello,

I created a document in Mac using Pages. I typed in Tamil and the font was displayed properly. I transferred this document to iCloud and opened in "Pages for iCloud" from Windows PC. Here the font was NOT displayed properly.

I tried from various browsers (Chrome, Internet Explorer) in the PC. I also checked from Safari in Mac. The problem persists. The font is NOT displayed properly both in PC and Mac when I open Pages via browser. The same problem exists for Notes also when an iCloud note is accessed via browser (Mac or PC). However, it is displayed correctly if opened in the Notes app (Mac or iPhone).

It looks like it is a browser setting problem, however, I am not sure about this. Can you help me get the Tamil font displayed properly in iCloud, accessed via browsers? I need to use browser because I have only a PC at my work.

Thanks.

Palani.

Can you use the camera icon here to post a screenshot of what you are seeing, and describe what is improper?

It may not be possible on a PC because of font incompatibilities, depending on the nature of problem.

    Hello Mr. Tom Gewecke,

The picture below shows the document named "Doc 1" which was opened in Pages app in Mac. The document is stored in iCloud.

The same document, when opened via browser, is displayed as below. This kind of improper display is seen when I open the document using iWork for iCloud in any browser (Safari, Chrome, IE) in any machine (Mac, PC).

Please let me know, if you need anything.

    Thanks for your support.

Try FireFox in OS X.  Seems to be better but not perfect.

Try FireFox in Windows and let us know.

It looks like a bug with safari and iCloud, the right Tamil font does not get used by default and cannot be chosen.  Let Apple know via

Thank you for the suggestion, Mr. Tom Gewecke,

I tried from firefox in both Mac and Windows PC. The pages displayed little better, but not perfect. Please see the image below. There are unexplained spaces in the words, which are not present in the original document (My name..! ).

However, the same "text" when typed in Notes and accessed via iCloud, was displayed improperly (similar to Pages document seen in Safari/Chrome). Please see the image below.

In the "Notes" app in Mac and in iPhone, this note is displayed properly. Only in browser it is improper. I will file a feedback report to Apple.

    Thanks a lot.

Wish you a very happy new year.

    Warm regards

    Palani.
